Small Forest Patch Management for Birds – Workshop for Natural Resource Professionals

In collaboration with the American Bird Conservancy, Ohio DNR-Division of Forestry & Division of Wildlife, Ohio Woodland Stewards Program, and Handcock County Parks, we will be hosting a full day workshop for natural resource professionals on November 14th, 2025. The classroom portion will be held at Oakwoods Nature Preserve in Findlay, with site visits to Hancock County Parks properties in the area as well as University of Findlay’s Reick Nature Center.

  • 9:10 – 9:40 – Presentation of the Small Forest Patch Guide (Ohio Bird Conservation Initiative)
  • 9:40 – 10:00 – Forest Conservation / Bird Policy (ABC)
  • 10:00 – 10:10 – Break
  • 10:10 – 10:20 – Bird Friendly Maple Forest Management (OSU Extension)
  • 10:20 – 10:30 – Forest Management Presentation of Oakwoods Nature Preserve (Hancock Park District)
  • 10:30 – 1:00 – Field tour of Oakwoods Nature Preserve (Hancock County Staff)
  • 1:00 – 2:00 – Lunch on your own
  • 2:00 – 3:45 – Field tour of Reick Nature Center (University of Findlay)
