Small Forest Patch Management for Birds – Workshop for Landowners

In collaboration with the American Bird Conservancy, Ohio DNR-Division of Forestry & Division of Wildlife, Ohio Woodland Stewards Program, and Metroparks Toledo, we will be hosting a full day workshop for landowners on November 15th, 2025. The classroom portion will be held at Fallen Timbers Battlefield Metropark, with site visits to Metroparks Toledo properties in the area as well as woodlands currently being management by private landowners.

  • 9:00 – 9:10 – Welcome & Intro (ABC Staff)
  • 9:10 – 9:40 – Presentation of the Small Forest Patch Guide (Ohio Bird Conservation Initiative)
  • 9:40 – 9:50 – Northwest Ohio Woodland Association
  • 9:50 – 10:10 – Conservation Inventive programs & Landowner Resources (ODNR)
  • 10:10 – 10:25 – Break
  • 10:25 – 10:45 – Cross Landowner property presentation
  • 10:45 – 12:30 – Field tour of Metroparks site with commonly used tools demo
  • 12:30 – 1:30 – Lunch (provided)
  • 1:30 – 3:30 – Tour of private property forest habitat restoration (Van Transportation)

Registration is $25 and includes lunch & transportation to field sites
